26 Thin Body & Thinline Acoustic Guitars for 2025 – Plus My Favorites

displays Godin Thin Body Acoustic Guitar

I have to admit it…thin body acoustics are a pleasure to play. They just are so easy to handle. Of course I love the boomy and full sound of a big dreadnought, but when it comes to playability, thin body acoustic guitars are hard to beat.

Because I personally prefer acoustic guitars with slim bodies, I was happy to put together this comprehensive list of the cream of the crop thin body acoustic guitars. I also reveal the 3 best thin body acoustic guitars after the master list. If you have any questions, just check the FAQ section, or leave a comment.

Let’s get started!

26 Thin Body Acoustic Guitars

If you like thin body acoustics, Takamine should be on your radar. They produce smooth playing and great-sounding thin body acoustic guitars. Takamine Thinline TSP138CTB above is one such example.

I chose acoustic guitars that have really thin bodies. If I had to ask myself “is this a thin body acoustic guitar or not”, I just left it out from this article. If there’s a demand for another list with slightly thicker body acoustic guitars, just let me know in the comments. Have fun!

What I like

  • Solid spruce top and mahogany back & sides offer rich, clear, and articulate sound
  • Body feels comfortable

What I don’t like

  • No real bone nut or saddle (Urea)

Who is it for?

If you are after a thin body acoustic with solid woods, slim overall playability, and rich sound, Yamaha APX1200II is one of the best options. It’s not cheap, but it still offers really high value for the money. The lack of bone nut and saddle is a bummer, but urea still gets the job done.

Conclusion

A thin body paired with a slim neck equals easy and comfortable playability to me. As I said, I do like the full sound of a dreadnought or Jumbo acoustic, and they are not impossible to play either, but I prefer my acoustic to have a slim neck and body. Because the playing comfort motivates me to play more and more and more.

I hope that this article helped you out, and maybe you even decided to get one of the guitars featured. If you have any questions just leave a comment, I and the GND team are here for you.

I wish you all the best and keep rocking!

  1. Lord Cramerdog

    Takamine TSP 136 159 2.36 inches
    Yamaha APX 600 3.5 inches
Fender Telecaster Acoustisonic – 1.75 inches
    Taylor T5Z : 2.1 inches
    PRS A50 Angelus – 4 inches appox

The Yamaha is fine but lacks the overall depth of sound of the PRS
The Fender Acoustisonic feels a little thin and doesn’t sit on the leg (sitting down) the way acoustic players are used to

My other guitars (Martin, Taylor) are deeper but the Taylor upper bout is sculpted and it gives the sense of being thinner and more comfortable
