Small Town Virginia Metal Band Drops A Single Imbossible to Ignore

Wytheville, a small 8000-resident town in Virginia, is rarely in the headlines. But this isn’t a place that shies away from a fight—whether it’s surviving Civil War raids or the 1950 polio epidemic that gripped the town.

Today, it’s Seronova, a local metal band, making noise worth hearing with their latest single. Seronova was founded in 2023 and they have been putting in the hard work to get noticed.

And their newest single definitely deserves attention.

It’s a much lighter track than their previous 2 singles, but it hits the nerve—much like Wytheville’s hot air balloon-painted water tower, a quirky beacon for I-81 travelers, stands out against the Blue Ridge foothills.

It reminds me of Between The Buried And Me and blends clear vocals with mean metal growl, hitting the sweet spot.

But, I especially enjoyed the guitars. Almost psychedelic clean intro paired with punk-metalcore styled distorted work. Killer playing.

And, did I mention? 1 of the band’s main guitarists is behind many articles here at GND. Long bearded Harley-Davidson-loving DL Shepherd.

Fun fact: Darren is playing with his custom-made Johnny Foreigner guitar. He wrote an article about the ordering process of this custom guitar here. We will release the review later.

Check the new single: Sweet Deceit, and if you dig it, follow Seronova on Facebook & YouTube and get to know the band.

PS. In case the drummers and bassists get mad…I did like the drums and bass of the song too.
